Introduce Kids to Multicultural Art Projects!

Get FREE visual art lesson plans on this website for your fall lesson planning, Christmas or holiday lesson planning that is both multicultural and fun!

Explore multicultural lesson plans in art education that cover: ancient cave art, American Indian pottery and weaving, Japanese art ink painting, fabric stamping art from India, Egyptian tomb art, and art from the Renaissance, Expressionism, and Modern Art.

These integrated art lesson plans will round out your student’s education by linking culture, history and social studies to your lesson plan. Every art lesson plan is complete with a brief background or biography of the artist or cultural style highlighted, reducing your research/prep time. This way you don’t have to be a professionally trained art teacher to teach visual arts with our FREE lesson plans!

Why Teach the Arts?

A recent L.A. Times article stated, “…the arts teach children the ability to make judgments in the absence of rules… They must exercise judgment by looking inside themselves.”

Many would agree that there is more to education than mere memorization of facts and figures. The arts can teach children to be flexible – that there can be more than one solution to a problem.

Aristotle said, “Art loves chance. He who errs willingly is the artist.”

The arts offer ways for us to communicate feelings in a way that literal language cannot always express.

Our Lesson Plans Are NOT Time Consuming

Generally, the art lesson plans are geared for the classroom, but can easily be applied to the home-schooled child as well. Lessons take about 40 minutes to complete for the primary K-3 grades and about 50-60 minutes for the upper 4-6 grades, not including prep time. Most of the supplies incorporated are inexpensive and easy to get from art, discount chain and/or grocery stores.

Artist Biographies

Introduce students to fine artists by outlining their background. The Global Gallery has an extensive library of artist biographies that are concise and easy to access. Check it out...and add historical depth to your visual art lesson plan.
